Sri Lanka, Jan. 6 -- A low-pressure area developed in the Bay of Bengal after a low-level atmospheric disturbance southeast of Sri Lanka intensified.
The Department of Meteorology forecasts indicate that showery conditions will increase from January 8th, particularly affecting the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces. Showers are expected at times in these regions, with heavy rainfall of approximately 100 mm likely in the Uva province as well as the Nuwara-Eliya, Matale, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, and Ampara districts.
