Srilanka, Dec. 10 -- The Department of Meteorology issued a statement indicating that the Northeast Monsoon condition became established across the island.

Showers or thundershowers are possible at times today (10) in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces.

The statement notes that some places in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces could receive heavy rain exceeding 100 mm.

Furthermore, some places in the Central and Uva provinces may experience moderately heavy rain of about 75 mm.

In the rest of the island, rain or thundershowers are possible at a few places after 1:00 PM, with some areas potentially receiving moderately heavy rain of about 75 mm.
