Sri Lanka, April 28 -- The Department of Meteorology, in its forecast issued at 5:30 am today, April 28, indicates that the Intertropical Convergence Zone is influencing the island's weather patterns.

Expect showers or thundershowers across most parts of the island during the afternoon or night.

Several spells of showers are likely in the North-western and Western provinces, as well as in the Mannar, Galle, and Matara districts during the morning.

Heavy rainfall, potentially exceeding 100 mm, is forecast for some areas within the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern, and North-central provinces, and in the Vavuniya, Mullaittivu, and Kurunegala districts.
