Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- The Department of Meteorology has forecast an increase in rainfall across the island starting the day after tomorrow.

According to Director Athula Karunanayake, this expected increase is due to the atmospheric disturbance located southeast of Sri Lanka evolving into a low-pressure area.

However, the Department of Meteorology warns that thunderstorms are likely this afternoon or tonight in seven provinces.

Accordingly, heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm could occur at certain places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North Western, Southern, and Northern provinces.
