Sri Lanka, Dec. 27 -- Showers and strong winds are expected to affect multiple regions across the island over the next 36 hours, according to the latest statement issued by the Department of Meteorology at 4:00 PM today (27).

The advisory indicates that several spells of rain may occur in the Uva province as well as the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Hambantota districts.

Additionally, the Sabaragamuwa province and the Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts remain likely to experience scattered showers or thundershowers after 2:00 PM. Certain areas within these regions could receive heavy falls exceeding 50 mm.

Minimal rain is anticipated for the Northern province and the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts.
