Srilanka, Dec. 26 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a special weather alert, warning that an active easterly wave is expected to move across Sri Lanka starting December 29.

The Department predicts that the following provinces will experience the heaviest rainfall:

The public is strongly advised to stay alert to official bulletins and take necessary precautions against localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
