Sri Lanka, April 15 -- The Department of Meteorology warned that the heat index, which is the temperature felt by the human body, is likely to rise to the 'Caution level' in parts of the Northern, North-central, North-western, Western, Southern, and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Rathnapura and Monaragala districts.

Due to these conditions, the Meteorology Department advises individuals working outdoors to stay well-hydrated and take frequent breaks in shaded areas.

Those indoors are urged to check on elderly and sick individuals who may be more vulnerable to heat stress.

The public is requested to limit strenuous outdoor activities, seek shade whenever possible, and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
