Sri Lanka, May 4 -- Health officials are warning the public about a recent increase in asthma cases.

Speaking at a recent press conference for World Asthma Day, respiratory specialist Dr. Asha Samaranayake emphasised that asthma can be effectively managed without adverse side effects by using inhalers.

She also highlighted the widespread global occurrence of asthma among young people.

Also addressing the event, specialist Dr. Samanmali Dalpathadu pointed out that despite the prevalence of asthma, a considerable number of patients in the country remain undiagnosed and unaware of their condition.
