Sri Lanka, Feb. 17 -- Severe brain damage resulting from a blunt force impact to the head caused the death of a two-year-old girl in Magammana, Homagama.
Specialist Judicial Medical Officer Panitha Seneviratne revealed these findings during the post-mortem examination conducted at the Homagama Base Hospital on the 15th.
The victim, identified as Parindi Dilanya, lived with her mother and older brother following her father's departure from the family.
Investigations by Mattegoda Police suggest the mother and an associate subjected the children to persistent cruelty over the past four months.
Reports indicate the pair viewed the children as a nuisance to their relationship, leading to frequent physical assaults.
