Sri Lanka, May 30 -- HayWind, the wind power arm of Hayleys Fentons, is set to develop a 50-megawatt wind farm in Mannar, marking Sri Lanka's largest private investment in wind energy.

This follows a competitive bid awarded by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

The official power purchase agreement was signed yesterday (29) at the Ministry of Power and Energy.

This agreement re-confirms the award to HayWind One Limited for the development of the 50MW wind power plant in Mannar.

The project secured a highly competitive rate of 4.65 US cents per kilowatt-hour and will be developed on a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) basis.
