Sri Lanka, Jan. 29 -- Plans are underway to implement new educational reforms for Grade 6 starting this year, marking a major shift in the national schooling system. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya announced this initiative while attending the national ceremony for 2026 Grade 1 admissions today (29).

The event, held under the theme "First Step to the Future," took place at Gunasekera Vidyalaya in Athurugiriya. While welcoming the new students, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's belief that no child's education should depend on their parents' financial status. She further stated that the administration remains committed to ensuring no student faces exclusion from the education system.
