Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa questioned in Parliament today (20) why the government is rushing to debate the no-confidence motion against the Minister of Education while she is currently out of the country.

He noted that while the Constitution provides a clear framework for such motions, they should not proceed solely on the government's terms.

Premadasa emphasised that the Minister should be given a fair opportunity to respond and participate in the debate herself.

Expressing suspicion, Premadasa questioned whether the government is orchestrating a "conspiracy" against its own Minister by pushing for the debate in her absence.
