Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- The National Housing Development Authority plans to redevelop government apartment complexes in the Colombo District that are over 40 years old, starting next year. This was revealed at a recent meeting of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development, which was chaired by MP S. M. Marikkar.

Officials informed the committee, which met in Parliament on the 6th of August, that there are 45 such projects in the Colombo District, comprising around 10,000 housing units. The redevelopments are expected to be carried out under a public-private partnership model. The committee has instructed officials to submit a detailed report within a month, including plans for the current residents.
