Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya has announced that a new artificial intelligence website, aigov.lk, and a bank card payment system for bus fares will be launched by the government.
Speaking in Parliament, the Prime Minister stated that these projects are part of 'Digital Economy Month', a national initiative to advance the country's digital transformation.
September has been designated to raise public awareness and showcase the government's commitment to a digital economy.
The government aims to expand the digital economy to contribute US$15 billion to GDP, with US$5 billion from digital exports alone.
The Prime Minister added that this will create a workforce of 200,000 in the digital sector.
