Sri Lanka, Jan. 31 -- The government plans to import 200 million coconuts in the next two weeks to tackle the ongoing shortage in the country, according to Coconut Development Authority Chairman Shantha Ranatunga.

Speaking during the Hiru Balaya political program, Ranatunga stated that the current price of coconuts, which stands at 250 rupees, is expected to drop to between 180 and 200 rupees in the near future.

He assured that the price reduction would take place within the next two weeks, providing relief to consumers facing the rising costs of coconuts.
