Sri Lanka, March 6 -- Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe announced that steps will be taken to relax the current conditions for receiving benefits from the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) to allow more people to access their entitlements.
Speaking during the Committee on the Third Reading of the Budget on Tuesday (04), the Deputy Minister acknowledged concerns over fraudulent document submissions when claiming the 30% EPF benefits.
He further stated that six institutions operate under the Labour Ministry, with increased budget allocations this year, including Rs. 598 million for the Department of Labour, Rs. 128 million for labour laws and relations, Rs. 163 million for worker safety and welfare, Rs. 1,640 million for the EPF,...
