Sri Lanka, Jan. 31 -- The government is focusing on digitizing the systems of both the Department of Motor Transport and the National Institute of Transport Medicine, aiming to cut costs and streamline operations.

It is estimated that digitalizing the issuance of medical certificates alone could save around Rs. 50 million, reducing expenses on paper and processing.

Transport Minister Bimal Ratnayake highlighted this initiative during an inspection visit to the National Institute of Transport Medicine yesterday. He later visited the National Transport Commission to assess its current challenges.
