Sri Lanka, May 26 -- The Government is taking steps to call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Mattala International Airport.

Speaking to us, Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Janith Kodituwakku, said EOIs will be called from investors, interested in the management of the Airport and the setting up of direct and indirect aviation-related business ventures at the airport.

These will be based on 7 sectors, to be called over the next couple of months.

This announcement comes amid issues with the previous government's proposal for a 30-year management contract for the Airport, as a Joint Venture between India's Shaurya Aeronautics Ltd. and Russia's Airports of Regions management.
