Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- Economic losses caused by the 'Ditwah' disaster condition were revealed at the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development.
Accordingly, roads and bridges suffered severe damage due to the disaster. Officials from the Road Development Authority (RDA) informed the Parliamentary Committee that the authority incurred a loss of approximately Rs. 75 billion.
The number of damaged roads belonging to the RDA is 316, and the number of damaged bridges is 40.
Therefore, the total amount required for complete restoration work is approximately Rs. 190 billion. Plans are underway to obtain a loan of Rs. 2 billion from the World Bank for this purpose.
