Sri Lanka, Feb. 3 -- A total tax revenue loss of Rs. 16.76 billion occurred due to the controversial reduction of the sugar tax, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nishantha Jayaweera informed Parliament today (03).

The disclosure came in response to a series of sharp questions raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Badulla District MP Chaminda Wijesiri. The MP questioned the current status of the investigation files, mockingly asking whether the "files" used during the election campaign-specifically those previously associated with Minister Vasantha Samarasinghe-remained hidden or "closed" inside a vehicle.
