Srilanka, Nov. 12 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) warned the government that it will launch a massive nationwide protest if steps are not taken to resolve the issues concerning doctors within seven days.
The Secretary of the Government Medical Officers' Association, Dr Prabath Sugathadasa, stated in a media release yesterday (11) that the adverse situation created by neglecting the health service and doctors in Budget 2026 will lead to several severe measures being taken in the future.
The release mentions the free healthcare system faces a risk of collapse due to crises such as the human resources shortage, lack of medicines and equipment, and scarcity of patient care facilities.
