Sri Lanka, April 22 -- The Cabinet of Ministers approved an increase in the government's contribution to the "A house for you - a tomorrow for the country" housing programme on Monday (21), following a rise in construction costs.
This initiative supports one prioritised low-income family from each Grama Niladhari division by providing aid to build or upgrade homes of at least 550 square feet. Previously, beneficiaries were expected to cover costs exceeding the initial government grant of Rs. 650,000.
