Srilanka, Nov. 23 -- The government plans to completely stop the importation of rice by the year 2028, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, K D Lalkantha.
The Minister, however, speaking at the Aqua Planet Sri Lanka 2025 International Exhibition, stated that the time has now come to move away from the traditional concept of "We cultivate - We consume" (api wawalayi - api kanne).
The "Aqua Planet Sri Lanka 2025" exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources under the theme "A Prosperous Tomorrow through Aquatic Resources," is currently being held at the Lotus Tower premises.
