Sri Lanka, June 8 -- The Teacher-Principal Trade Union Alliance alleges that the government is granting teacher appointments to a large number of individuals who obtained Bachelor of Education degrees from private universities lacking proper accreditation.

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union, called on the government to clarify its stance on these appointments.

He further warned that if a clear position is not provided, all education sector trade unions would unite to launch industrial action.
