Srilanka, Nov. 16 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has announced that doctors in all hospitals across the island will limit the provision of selected services starting tomorrow, November 17.

The services to be restricted include

Prescribing external medications Doctors will restrict issuing prescriptions for drugs that must be purchased from outside pharmacies.

Recommending external laboratory services Doctors will limit the recommendation of tests to be performed by external laboratories.

This decision was previously announced by the GMOA as a form of trade union action in protest against the government's failure to address their demands in the recent budget.
