Sri Lanka, April 29 -- The Colombo Port welcomed one of the world's largest container vessels, the MSC MARIELLA, at its East Container Terminal (ECT).
According to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), this marks a historic moment as the MSC MARIELLA is the largest container ship to ever call at a Sri Lankan port.
Constructed in 2023, the massive MSC MARIELLA measures an impressive 399.90 meters in length and 61.30 meters in width.
It has a gross tonnage of 240,739 and a remarkable container carrying capacity of 24,246 TEUs.
The berthing of the MSC MARIELLA at the SLPA-owned ECT highlights the terminal's advanced capabilities in handling ultra-large container ships.
