Sri Lanka, June 13 -- Generator number one at the Norochcholai coal power plant will be taken offline from midnight today (13), for approximately 25 days of scheduled maintenance.

This was announced by the Ceylon Electricity Board's spokesperson, Dhammika Wimalaratne.

He confirmed that this temporary shutdown will reduce the national grid's capacity by 300 megawatts.

In a balancing move, the Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Plant, which has been inactive for maintenance for the past one and a half months, is scheduled to resume operations from midnight tonight.

This will be adding 165 megawatts back to the national grid.
