Sri Lanka, July 4 -- "Army Upul," a close associate of notorious criminal "Ganemulla Sanjeewa," was shot dead last night on the Batuwatta Rural Development Road in Ragama.

Police suspect "Kehelbaddara Padme," an organized criminal reportedly hiding in Dubai, is responsible for the killing.

According to Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya, three investigation teams have been formed to probe the incident.

Initial reports indicate that Army Upul, 45, who was facing several drug trafficking charges, was lured out of his home in Batuwatta by three individuals who arrived in a three-wheeler.

He was then shot, and the assailants fled in the same vehicle.
