Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- The Court of Appeal has scheduled a hearing for a petition filed by former minister Udaya Gammanpila.
The petition seeks an order to prevent the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from arresting him.
The former minister's petition was filed under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act.
However, the CID has previously informed the Court of Appeal that they have not made a decision to arrest Gammanpila at this time.
The order to hear the petition was issued by the Court of Appeal bench after a request by the petitioner's lawyer, President's Counsel Manohara de Silva.
The petition is scheduled to be taken up for consideration on September 24.
