Sri Lanka, Dec. 20 -- The Galle Additional Magistrate yesterday (19) ordered a tuition class teacher who was arrested and produced before the court over an assault and injury of a schoolgirl by beating her hands 160 times with a stick, allegedly for losing marks on a mathematics question paper, to be released on bail.
The suspect was released on two personal bail bonds of Rs. 300,000 each.
Investigations revealed that the suspect is a second-year university student who teaches mathematics at a private tuition class.
Galle Police informed the court that investigations were initiated following a complaint made by the victim's father, alleging that the teacher had beaten his daughter's hands 160 times with a stick.
