Sri Lanka, June 22 -- Professor Gamini Weerasinghe, Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, has warned that fuel prices in Sri Lanka may rise due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

He noted that the war could trigger a spike in global oil prices and potentially disrupt oil supplies from the Middle East, a key region for global energy exports.

Prof. Weerasinghe further stated that such instability could also negatively affect Sri Lanka's tea and apparel exports, compounding economic challenges.
