Sri Lanka, June 18 -- Four police officers from the Kuruwita Police Station have been remanded until June 23rd, after being produced before the Ratnapura Magistrate's Court yesterday (17).

The officers, who were already under suspension, are accused of improperly retaining case exhibits instead of handing them over to the relevant department.

This alleged misconduct stems from a raid conducted on May 29th in the Kuruwita-Pohorabawa area, where a suspect was apprehended with illegal liquor.

An investigation, ordered by the Ratnapura Senior Superintendent of Police, led to their suspension and subsequent remand.
