Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake was summoned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) this morning (1) in connection with an investigation into the alleged misuse of public funds by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The investigation relates to an incident where former President Wickremesinghe attended his wife's university graduation ceremony in London while returning from an official visit to New York, United States.

In connection with the incident, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was previously arrested and remanded before being released on bail.
