Sri Lanka, May 17 -- Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has sent a letter to the Chairman of the Bribery Commission to clarify matters regarding allegations against MP Chamara Sampath and his own summons to the commission.
In his letter, Wickremesinghe states that on April 10, MP Chamara Sampath Dasanayake's wife contacted him seeking advice.
She inquired whether a statement made by Minister Samantha Vidyarathna had violated the MP's parliamentary privileges.
Wickremesinghe also informed the Bribery Commission in writing that he had a scheduling conflict with the initially assigned date for his appearance before them.
