Sri Lanka, May 1 -- Chief Inspector of Police Ashoka Ariyawansa, the Chief Security Officer of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been transferred to Kankesanthurai with immediate effect, according to police headquarters reports.

The transfer, effective from today (May 1), was approved by the Police Commission, sources said.

Chief Inspector Ariyawansa served in former President Wickremesinghe's security unit for 23 years and held the position of his chief personal security officer for 15 years.
