Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Former Sri Lankan President, the Honourable Ranil Wickremesinghe, has spoken out against the recent violence in Kathmandu, Nepal.

In a special statement, he condemned the widespread killings, including the tragic death of a young person and the murder of a former Prime Minister's wife during the burning of her home.

Mr Wickremesinghe also criticised the assaults on government officials, particularly the Foreign Minister, viewing these acts as a severe violation of women's rights that has damaged Nepal's international standing.

He argued that the police's decision to use lethal force was unjustified, suggesting the situation could have been de-escalated without gunfire.
