Sri Lanka, April 16 -- A Peruvian court has sentenced former President Ollanta Humala and his wife, Nadine Heredia, to 15 years in prison on charges of money laundering.
According to foreign media reports, the couple was found guilty of illegally receiving funds from Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht and the Venezuelan government to finance Humala's presidential campaigns in 2006 and 2011.
Ollanta Humala and Nadine Heredia are recognized as key figures in the founding and development of Peru's Nationalist Party.
