Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Former State Minister Nimal Lanza, who was in remand custody for several charges, including an assault in 2006, has been released on bail.

He was presented before the Negombo High Court today.

The court released him on a personal bail of two hundred thousand rupees.

The former minister had surrendered to the Kochchikade police on August 29 regarding the charges, where he was arrested and presented to Negombo Chief Magistrate Rakitha Abeysinghe.
