Sri Lanka, May 25 -- Former Minister and Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary, Duminda Dissanayake, who has been remanded until May 29, has been admitted to the prison hospital.

This follows his arrest in connection with a gold-plated T-56 firearm discovered in the Havelock City luxury housing complex.

The former Minister was remanded under an order issued by Mount Lavinia Acting Magistrate Shantha Kumara on May 24.

Dissanayake was apprehended by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) while at a housing complex in Bambalapitiya, and was later interrogated.

Medical reports from the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer indicated he was unwell, prompting the Acting Magistrate's order for his transfer to the prison hospital.
