Sri Lanka, May 4 -- 92 former members of Municipal Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas have allegedly received a total of 620 million rupees as compensation for houses that were set on fire during the Aragalaya protests, claims Minister Nalin Bandara Jayatissa.

He stated that these funds were disbursed from the government treasury under the then-President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Minister further alleged that some of these individuals have also received insurance money in addition to the government funds.

He made these remarks during a public rally in Horana, ahead of Tuesday's mini polls.
