Srilanka, Dec. 15 -- Former Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Dhammika Ranatunga, was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
He was arrested on charges of corruption for allegedly causing a loss of nearly Rs. 800 million to the CPC.The charge relates to his tenure as CPC Chairman when he canceled three long-term tenders for the procurement of fuel for 2017-2018 and instead resorted to implementing spot tenders at higher prices.
The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
