Sri Lanka, Aug. 16 -- A former local council member, who was arrested for verbally abusing and behaving in a disorderly manner towards police officers at the Padukka Police Station, has been remanded until August 29.
Following his arrest, the individual was admitted to Homagama Base Hospital due to an illness.
The remand order was issued by Acting Magistrate Anura Hapuarachchi, who went to the hospital to deliver the order.
The former councillor is accused of verbally abusing and assaulting the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the police traffic division inside the police station.
