Sri Lanka, Feb. 4 -- Acting on wrongful instructions from superiors provides no legal protection, as emphasised by the Premawathi Manamperi case which connects such actions to one's conscience. MP Namal Rajapaksa, National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), made these remarks while responding to journalists after providing a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday.

Referencing the landmark court ruling regarding the killing of Premawathi Manamperi in Katharagama, the MP noted that the judiciary clearly established that following an order is not a defence if the act is inherently wrong. He urged current officials to remember this principle in their duties.
