Srilanka, Dec. 2 -- Water levels in swollen rivers are currently declining, however, the Irrigation Department states that the risk level persists.

Accordingly, a drop in the water level was observed at the Nagalagam Street water gauge, the final gauge on the Kelani River, by last night. The latest notification from the Irrigation Department indicated the water level there dropped to 8.1 feet.

However, the Irrigation Department noted that a minor flood condition still exists at the Hanwella water gauge on the Kelani River, while the water level at the Nagalagam Street water gauge remains at major flood level.
