Sri Lanka, Oct. 25 -- The Trincomalee Additional Magistrate yesterday (24) ordered the remand of five individuals, including the landowner, who were arrested for allegedly conducting an unauthorised excavation in a land in the Kumburupitiya, Navachchole area with the intent of unearthing a hidden treasure.

They have been remanded until October 29.

The Additional Magistrate also directed that the suspects be produced before the Kuchchaveli Magistrate's Court on that day, and ordered an archaeological report on the site of the illegal excavation.

Kuchchaveli Police produced two motor vehicles, two mattocks, a shovel, a crowbar, and religious artefacts belonging to the suspects to the court as case productions via B Report No. 479/2025. ...
