Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- The Matara Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau has arrested five suspects involved in stealing copper parts from lightning conductors on the roof of the Matara High Court complex and various telephone communication towers across the province.
The police reported that the suspects, aged between 23 and 34 and residents of the Imaduwa area, had stolen 228 kilograms of copper, which was sold to various places.
The thefts took place in multiple police divisions, including Matara, Malimbada, Akuressa, Neluwa, Imaduwa, Weligama, Yakkalamulla, Urubokka, Ambalangoda, and Ahangama. The arrests were made based on information gathered during the investigation into the copper theft at the Matara High Court complex.
