Sri Lanka, May 18 -- Local police in Finland have confirmed that five people died after two civilian helicopters collided in mid-air.
The incident occurred near Eura Airport. The helicopters had taken off together from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.
Authorities located the wreckage in a wooded area, confirming two people were aboard one helicopter and three in the other. According to local media reports, the helicopters were en route to an aviation event at the Piikajarvi Flight Centre in Kokemaki.
The aircraft were foreign-registered civilian helicopters. Police have launched an investigation into the crash, and officials from both Finland and Estonia have stated they are collaborating on the probe.
