Sri Lanka, Feb. 7 -- The Fire Services Department reports that the fire at the partially constructed Krish Building in Colombo Fort has been brought under control, though the structure remains highly unsafe.

Officials stated that the fire was particularly challenging to control due to the building lacking even the minimum emergency fire control facilities.

The fire broke out around 6.30 pm yesterday on the 55-storey Krish Square Building, spreading from the 32nd to the 35th floor. Seven fire engines were deployed to douse the flames, but firefighters struggled to reach the 35th floor.

A Sri Lanka Air Force team was later called in to assist in controlling the situation.
