Sri Lanka, Oct. 26 -- The final rites for the murdered Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Lasantha Wickramasekara, will be performed this afternoon at the family burial grounds in Midigama.

The remains are also scheduled to be brought to the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha at 11:00 AM today.

Lasantha Wickramasekara was shot and killed inside his office last Wednesday.

Although an arrest is yet to be made in connection with the crime, investigating officers stated that the murder investigation is currently making progress, and a wealth of information regarding the suspects has been uncovered.

Investigating officers noted that details regarding both the gunman and the other individual who arrived for the killing have now been revealed.
