Sri Lanka, Sept. 7 -- The final rites for the 15 victims of the tragic Ella-Wellawaya bus crash were held this afternoon.

The bus, which was carrying employees of the Tangalle Municipal Council and their families, plunged over 1,000 feet down a precipice on the night of September 4.

The deceased include the bus driver, the Tangalle Municipal Council Secretary, 11 other council employees, and two children.

Today, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa visited the homes of the victims in Tangalle and surrounding areas to pay his final respects and convey his condolences.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and other political representatives also paid their last respects yesterday.
